Yesterday it was very hot. 37 degrees celcius. Very unusual here.
I coped rather well in the morning. We even went slow motion to the shopping centre, a 5 minute comfortable bike-ride in a soft breeze. There they had air conditioning. I bought the same skirt I bought some weeks ago. Even at a lower prize, because it's nearing the end of the sales time.
It's an item to get people in the shop, and the size is immense. But I always open the tailleseam, get the elastics out and a thinner version at the right size in, and I'm perfectly happy.
Normally I don't wear tops, but now I do. So for 1.99 I fell for one that colours with the shirt.
Ofcourse we had some conversations about the cancelled four days marches. People perfectly understanding the decision, but for the shops that are near the route and have bought all sorts of stuff they would have sold and are now stuck with this is a disaster.
For the band too. We had a nice couple of payed performances, and they are cancelled too. I doubt if we'll see the money.
In the grocery shop we usually go, they had all sorts of things to eat.
Currant bread, grapes, cheese. And the girls were told to eat it, as there was almost nobody. One of the boys even opened a new package of very expensive grapes.
In the other shop people were standing between the cooling cupboards. We got coffee and the girls tea.
When we went home the heat fell like a pile of wintercoats on us, which made the house feel cool.
But we had the groceries in, and something extra. And we had bought boxes full of popsicles for the children. So they can eat as much ice as they want.
Late in the afternoon I started to feel unwell. Which for me is usual with this heat. I have a metabolic disease and when my body gets a bit hotter an enzyme stops working so toxic chemicals start loading the system. Like with a kidneypatient.
I sat near the ventilator, drank water, ate salty food, and felt like fainting all the time.
Then the diabetes got inbalanced. I felt really ill, and thought about going to hospital. But what do I want from there? I wasn't dehydrated, or anything, and the trip there might even make me worse. So I went to bed and hoped for the better.
Took a little ventilator with me, but it made me feel very cold, as I was sweaty.
In the middle of the night I woke up, like expected, and took my meds and drank a lot of water and ate something. In the morning I went outside and sat in a chair sometime before the heat came in again. I felt much better and happy nothing worse had happened. The rest of the day it felt like my body was regenerated. Like someone had switched a handle and set me on summerlevel.
I commented on the board of the four days marches about the summerheat. Gave a medical explanation why people need to sweat, after reading that the wife of one of the deceased was proud hert husband didn't sweat and she was proud he was the only one still smelling after aftershave.
Ofcourse I didn't say that more knowledge would have saved her husband's life. Not sweating with that weather and that bodily activity is a signal of the body shutting down.
When I looked later I got a compliment of one of the people of the medical staff of the army, and I felt so proud.
On the other hand, it's old fashioned knowledge...
The internetconnection was not stable, so Nyo got one of his angry fits......
Right at that time we got normal postmail stating that the files of one of the boys had been closed because the papers weren't in.
Hmm...They had written us first to wait for the phonecall.... And they didn't phone. It wasn't even clear which boy they meant and they also forgot to give the letter a referral number.
(Why do people get sloppy when they have airconditioning? LOL!).
So I send them a mail and within ten minutes they called. LOL! Admitted it was their mistake.
On top of it all a piece broke off of a molar. I called the dentist only to find he's on a holiday. I don't want to call the emrgency service. I have no pain and I don't want to end up with a dentist that acts like a butcher, like the two ladies I had before this dentist.

It was so hot today.
During the marches 2 people have died. In all those 90 years that has happened only once.
They were among the 5 people that were resuscitated. One other is still in hospital. 30 other people too. More than 300 people cllapsed because of the heat.
This has never happened and is a disaster. So they have cancelled the marches. It'll be 37 degrees celcius tomorrow, so it's unresponsable to let people march, let alone that there are not enough emergency services to take care of such a huge amount of people getting unwell.
The festivities will be more quiet, with each day silence for those who died.
It's so sad.. so sad.......

A very hot day, and it will be worse.
Early in the morning I trimmed one large bucket full of stuff from the front garden. It's amazing how high the sun already was. Never tried to trim one of the trees that early, and never had the sun in my face in the morning.
An, the neighbouring woman, went shopping rather early. I asked if she liked to have the girls come with her, and a couple of minutes later they went. But I didn't see them come back.
Then I started to worry. Not necessary. They came back with a smell of food around them. They had helped cooking for the walkers she has as guests.
Tomorrow the international four days marches start. Oh... it will be hot for them. Luckily it starts at 4 in the morning, when it's still fresh and when they don't linger too much, they'll be in when it's not too hot. But for those who don't walk fast, this weather is a killer.
In town many people had fun when a cow broke loose and walked 7 km. I don't think he deserved to be slaughtered. When a cow breaks loose that way from the slaughtershouse, it should be enabled to grow old in the meadows.
We had in mind to go to the official opening of the marches, but it's too hot and there's a singer I absolutely don't like.
We watched it on TV and it was even worse. LOL!
Well, he has been here now, so he won't be next year!
Maybe they'd better have a contest and the best singer is allowed to sing the national anthem at the opening. It sure would give local talent a chance.
We have some great singers here. Why choose someone else?
Late in the evening An came and gave me a box with salad the girls made that morning. So they can taste what they have made.
Isn't that kind?

Yesterday the festivities around the international four days marches have started.
The marches itself start on tuesday.
Now it's a time of open air concerts, and a lot of other things.
The whole town buzzes.
Yesterday we were at the band when we got an unexpected visitor.
The commander of the british forces at the marches.
Wow, was he handsome!!!
He told he had 7 bagpipers among his people and asked if they were allowed to play with our band.
Ofcourse!
It's always nice to have a larger band and it's fun.
It was a pity he had already gone when we came back from our lesson.
The girls told he had tried to talk to them, but they couldn't understand english enough to have a conversation.
It's many years ago..I was 7.. and I went to the opening of the marches.
My father was one of the medical team and he got extra tickets from an army person.
One of them was at the VIP part. So he send me there, and I landed between danish women soldiers. They adopted me and wherever they saw me at the marches, which was several times a day, as we moved the mediccal team to different places along the route, they shared sweets and made pictures and were very kind.
It would have been fun if the girls would have experienced the same.
I planned to go on saturday evening to go to a concert of two african groups, but I didn't go. Lars had one of his moodswings and before he went he had us all upset.
Jim too, so that means I can't leave at all..........
