To me this angel is very special.
It's symbolic for my thoughts about peace.

In far more situations than we are aware of
we have a choice for peace.
We can either stand with the hands on our back,
keep our mouths closed and do nothing,
or we can have the little bird on our hand,
ready to let it fly.
To me peace and freedom
are always linked together.

I studied under Professor van Melsen,
and the way he talked about
violating peace by putting your freedom
in the area of other people
made me deeply understand what peace means.
It's above all an attitude of respect.

Peace is an acitivity.
It's speaking out
when people don't understand each other,
to make them aware of the possibility
to accept differences.
It's speaking out
when people tell others
they are better because of
for instance: color, religion or country.

It's speaking out when human life is at risk,
and when nature is used unrespectfully.

Because the world only can be at peace
when humanity and nature
is all in balance.
